Refresh: A Women's Retreat

Date: Friday, May 07, 2021 - Saturday, May 08, 2021
Time: 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Location: Hesperus Baptist Camp

Cheryl Ballew will be our guest speaker this year at Hesperus Camp. You might be familiar with her as the “meet/greet/game” coordinator in years past at the Refresh Retreats.  Cheryl is full of life and will be bringing a message of hope, protection, and security that we can apply to our daily lives in days ahead.

Cheryl has been a high school English Teacher and Speech/Debate coach in Farmington, NM since 2011. Her husband Steve has pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church in Farmington until recently becoming New Mexico State Executive Director for the Southern Baptist Convention. Life changes are in store for her that she will draw from as she presents her messages to us.

Cheryl met her husband while she was at New Mexico State University.  She majored in English Secondary Education with a minor in theatre arts. Cheryl has worked in many lay leadership roles.  She and Steve have four grown children and 12 grandchildren.  Cheryl enjoys reading, antiquing, travel, mission experiences, shopping, teaching preschool, speaking, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Sara Folsom and her daughters will be leading us in music as we worship. Sara grew up in Durango and her father, Clyde Johnson, was the pastor of First So. Baptist in Durango for 12 years.  Sara lives in Palmdale, CA where she has been a part of the worship team in her church. Sara and Gene, her husband, have 3 grown children and one in high school. Gene’s family lives in the Durango area.
